Good news Gilmore Girls fans: Sookie’s in! Melissa McCarthy reveals on today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she’ll return to Stars Hollow for Netflix’s upcoming Gilmore Girls reboot.
“They’re making four new movies of the Gilmore Girls which is a show which was near and dear to my heart…and we could not get those schedules to work,” McCarthy tells Ellen in the clip. “And literally about an hour and half ago we figured out that I’m gonna go back and do it and I am so excited.” McCarthy portrayed Sookie St. James, Lorelai Gilmore’s best friend, in the original series. Just yesterday, People ran an interview with McCarthy in which she said she “would be very surprised” if she appeared in the Gilmore Girls reboot.
