Adele’s latest record 25 was a smash out of the gate. According to Nielsen Music, Adele’s album has sold a record 2.433 million units since Friday (Nov. 20). The British singer broke the fifteen year record set by *NSYNC’s 2000 album No Strings Attached, which moved 2.413 million.
The members of the boy band congratulated her publicly on her massive accomplishment.
Joey Fatone spoke to Billboard about Adele breaking Nsync’s longstanding record, “Records are always meant to be broken, but with technology and current business model, I thought this one would be tough to beat. In all honesty, Adele is the truth — kinda excited a rare talent like hers is in the same breath as our group. I’m a huge fan….I even bought the damn album.”
JC Chasez posted a tweet, “Well done Adele.” Chris Kirkpatrick retweeted an article announcing the news. Lance Bass responded with a funny tweet. We’ll have to wait and see what Justin Timberlake says.
