B.B. King Dies At Age 89

B.B. King, the King of the Blues, has passed away.  He died in his sleep last night in Las Vegas, surrounded by family.  King was born on September 16, 1925, on a cotton plantation between Indianola and what is now Itta Bena, Mississippi.

B.B. King’s career spanned over seventy years and he amassed 15 Grammys!  Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at number six on the list of “Top 50 Guitar Players of All Time.”

He recorded with Eric Clapton, U2, Carlos Santana and many more people who consider King their mentor.

Here’s B.B. King with U2 on “When Love Comes To Town” from the album “Rattle and Hum,”  recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis.

Eric Clapton released this statement about his great friend, B.B. King.
