David Letterman’s Touching Father-Son Tribute To The Foo Fighters

Greg Hewitt

This is why I’m going to miss Dave so much once he retires.

Although he’s never been the type to let his audience get to know him very well, it seems over the past few years in particular, he’s become even more distracted and disinterested.

At times, it’s made the show and him hard to watch.

That’s what makes last night’s Foo Fighters appearance on the show so interesting.

Right off the bat, you can tell Dave loves these guys. He begins his introduction of the band (who were wrapping up a 3-night residency with the show) with a story about taking his young son Harry, who was 4 years old at the time, on a ski-trip to Montana.

“Years and years and years ago when I became a father, I recognized I was older than most fathers, and so did my son. And so I said I have to find something I can do with my son and we can do it together,” Letterman said

Interesting how the Foo Fighters became involved.  An incredibly cool moment, and worth watching,  if only to see this rare, other side of Dave.
