Coldplay Take on Body Acceptance, Ballet in ‘True Love’ Video: Watch

By Courtney E. Smith

In all things Coldplay, there is sincerity. That truism holds for the band’s latest video, “True Love.”

The clip, directed by Jonas Åkerlund and starring the band’s singer Chris Martin alongside actress Jessica Lucas, follows two people falling into what we assume is true love — or even if it’s love of commonality, they are certainly presented as peas in a pod. You see, both are wearing balloon body suits, both face rejection that makes them feel like outsiders and both are simply mad for the ballet.

Lucas plays an aspiring ballet dancer whose huge balloon body exclude her from realizing her dream of becoming a professional dancer. Martin is a janitor, sweeping up a theater housing the ballet. The pair, individually, face hardships like not fitting through doors and taking the constant disdain of almost everyone they come into contact with.
