Last night CBS showed their outstanding 50th Anniversary special commemorating the Beatles first appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964.
During the show, Paul McCartney told a story about their 1965 appearance on the show, when Paul was asked to perform “Yesterday” without the rest of the band. Paul had never performed without the rest of the Beatles but agreed to do it.
Seconds before the curtain was about to open, the stage manager asked Paul: “Are you nervous?” Paul lied and said: “No.” The stage manager then said to Paul: “You should be, there’s 73 million people watching.” The the curtain immediately opened and Paul was on.
A great little human story from Paul. We all get nervous.
