Mariah Carey is returning to her balladeer roots on her new track, “The Art of Letting Go.” The song is off her upcoming 14th studio album of the same name.
The Rodney Jerkins-produced track features the singer calling out an ex-lover: “Your audacity is too much to be believed/ So go to Mimi on your contacts, press delete.” The ’60s-style production, complete with back-up singers, harkens back to “Vision of Love,” off her self-titled debut, released way back in 1990.
Mariah shared the track–her first since releasing “#Beautiful” featuring Miguel back in May–with fans via her Facebook page. “This is such a personal record to me,” she penned. “I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that’s holding them back or bringing them down.”
