Imagine the scene. The Cardinals return home to Busch Stadium for game 3 of the World Series versus the American League champs up 2-0 in the series.
The fans are at a fever pitch just as the Cards take the field. And just as the game 3 starter, who we’ll assume will be Joe Kelly, motions to Yadi Molina that he’s completed his warmup and he’s ready to get started, the stadium public address announcer makes the following announcement:
“The St. Louis Cardinals are proud to welcome Academy Award Winning Actor AND St. Louis Cardinal Super-Fan BEN AFFLECK to Busch Stadium for Game 3 of the WORLD SERIES!!!
And the following picture appears on the jumbo Tron in center field:(Photo courtesy of reddit)
The joke being that there may not be a bigger Red Sox fan than Affleck, who donned the Cardinals t-shirt while filming the movie, “Gone Girl” in nearby Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Something tells me a guy who PRODUCED a video about raising “tomorrow’s Red Sox Fans” wouldn’t think it was very funny.
The ball is in your court Mr. Dewitt…
