Trish’s Trash: Despicable Me and Lone Ranger
If fireworks and crowds aren’t your thing or you’re just looking for something to do with the kids, two new movies open today: “Despicable Me 2” and “The Lone Ranger”.
Steve Carell returns as the voice of Gru in the sequel to the 2010 hit. Gru is kidnapped by a group called the Anti-Villain league, who want him to save the world from the bad guy voiced by Benjamin Bratt. Kristen Wiig voices the kidnapper and she becomes his partner. I’ve read a lot of the reviews with one stating “It also is easily the most enjoyable animated film of 2013 so far.” It opens today and is rated PG.

And Disney’s “Lone Ranger” opens today starring Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as the Lone Ranger, and Johnny Depp as Tonto. It’s funny to think that this will be the first time some of the kids are even hearing about the Lone Ranger!
It opens today and is rated PG-13.
