This week, Go! St. Louis posted the following on its Facebook page:
“We invite the local running community to join us on Saturday, April 20 at the Visitor’s Center in Forest Park for a Boston Marathon Unity Run. We will be meeting at 8am for an informal group run to show our solidarity and support. Look for the GO! St. Louis tent, which is where we will be gathering. And most importantly, we encourage you to wear blue and yellow, which are the Boston Marathon colors. Hope to see you on Saturday morning. Thanks!”
This Unity run is an impromtu, informal gathering. Go! St. Louis is encouraging St. Louis runners to come together not only to run, but also to share stories. There is no specific distance or course. Go! St. Louis organizers say they are sending their thoughts and prayers to victims and families impacted by the tragedy as well as sending a tribute and thank you to the first responders.
The schedule for Saturday’s run is as follows:
8:00 Reverend Mike Kinman (Christ Church Cathedral) will lead a non-denominational prayer
8:03 Brian Lyons & Nancy Lieberman will address the group.
8:06 National Anthem
8:08 Brian will ask them to run/walk their 1st minute in silence.
