It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Michael J. Fox playing the role of Marty McFly in “Back To The Future”, but he was not the original choice of the producers. They actually shot five weeks of footage with Eric Stoltz in the leading role.
After those five weeks, the producers came to the conclusion that Stoltz, while being a fine actor, wasn’t necessarily a comedic actor and so the call went out to Michael J. Fox.
And the rest they say is history.
After watching this clip, I think they made the right call.
