I’ve talked about this on the air on more than one occasion. There seems to be a lack of understanding as to the do’s and don’t of tipping. Case in point:

A St. Louis pastor was having dinner with some friends recently at a local Applebees and apparently wasn’t very happy with having to pay a tip. She was with a large party–which triggered the restaurant’s automatic 18% gratuity.

So rather than pay the tip, she crossed off the 18% and wrote the following:

“I give God 10% why do you get 18%!”

An Applebees employee (not the waitress who was stiffed) posted the receipt online, which as you can imagine went viral. Today comes word that the employee who posted the receipt has been fired.
The woman at the center of the controversy, Pastor Alois Bell tells The Smoking gun, “My heart is really broken. I”ve brought embarrassment to my church and ministry.”

Talk about your classic case of a no-win situation.
