Fresh 102.5 Salutes Marlena Hoehn

Dana Daniels

This summer, Fresh 102.5 and the PRACS Institute are saluting the women in St. Louis who are making a difference.

I recently spoke with our first featured nominee, Marlena Hoehn, a formerly homeless single mother of one who was nominated by her friend Cindy.

Here’s what Marlena’s friend Cindy from St. Peters, MO had to say about her:

Marlena is an amazing person with a huge heart who has assisted many people when she could have become just another statistic.

Marlena was dislocated from her parents’ home when she was just 17, and had to continue school and work through a youth program to get on her feet. When Marlena was just 18, she learned that she was pregnant. With the help of her co-workers, a positive attitude and years of working many hours, she was able to return to college. Her son is now almost 16, and Marlena has achieved her bachelor’s degree and her dream job.

Marlena’s advice to other women who may be struggling?

Follow your heart and your dreams. Stay positive.

It was such a pleasure speaking to Marlena, who is a real inspiration for anyone who has ever felt like the cards were stacked against them.  Click below to listen to my full interview with Marlena Hoehn.
