9/11 Memorial Events in St. Louis

If you are looking for a place to share your remembrance of the tragedies of September 11th this weekend, we have compiled a list of memorial events taking place throughout the St. Louis area.

You can join Fresh 102.5 along with the United Way of Greater St. Louis on Art Hill in Forest Park beginning at 7pm this Sunday for a 9/11 Memorial Tribute. There will also be a remembrance service for all 3000 people who tragically died 10 years ago.

The service will include guest speakers from the military and fire service.  Inspirational music will be performed by members of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. 3,000 – 3 foot flags will be strategically placed on Art Hill in Forest Park in remembrance for those who sacrificed everything on 9/11.

Events on Saturday, September 10th

St. Louis

  • Fire Engine Rally Parade and Memorial Walk
    10 a.m. at Market and North 20th Street
    Hundreds of firefighters and fire engines parade through the streets, ending at the Soldiers Memorial where live demonstrations will be held.

SouthSt. LouisCounty

  • Freedom River Walk and ceremony
    Walk at 9 a.m., Ceremony at 10 a.m.
    Starts at Hancock road at the south trail head of Jefferson Barracks Park Participants can walk either 1.1 miles or 2.6 miles. Ceremony includes a flyover of vintage planes.

Events on Sunday, September 11th

St. Louis

  • Art Hill Flag memorial and service
    8:46 a.m. at Art Hill in Forest Park
    More than 3,000 flags will fly over an eight-day period. The service includes speakers, music and a memorial wall for rescue personnel who died in the attacks.
  • Music Memorial
    5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Sheldon Concert Hall. Doors open at 4:45 p.m.
    An interfaith service featuring the St. Louis Symphony’s String Quartet and IN UNISON chorus, and performances by musicians of various faiths.

St. Louis County


  • Day of service park cleanup
    1 p.m. to 3 p.m.at Memorial Park in Brentwood
    A service project to clean up the park and creek, followed by a tree-planting and flag tribute to honor victims.


  • Memorial ceremony
    1 p.m. at Heroes Memorial in Fenton City  Park
    Ceremony features speaker Kevin Whitehead, a Trade Center survivor, and Rockwood Summit High School’s Chamber Choir.


  • Music at 12 p.m., Ceremony at 1 p.m. at the J. James Eagan Center
    The No. 1 James Eagan drive.

Saint Charles County

Saint Charles

  • Service at Family Arena
    10:28 a.m.
    Features speaker David Beamer, father of Todd Beamer, one of the heroes of United Flight 93

O’ Fallon, MO

  • Patriot Day 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Fun Run
    8 a.m. at T.R. Hughes Ballpark, 12 p.m. celebration at O’Fallon City Hall
    Proceeds to benefit Backstoppers and the Wounded Warrior Project.
  • Patriot Day Ceremony and Remembrance Walk
    Ceremony from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at O’Fallon City Hall, Blood Drive from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
    Features speaker Dawn Robinson, a survivor of the World Trade Center attacks. Remembrance walk is one-mile long down Main Street.
  • Citizens United in Service
    11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2:30 to 4 p.m.
    Various volunteer projects in O’Fallon, including cleaning Veterans Memorial, distributing Neighborhood Watch brochures, and writing letters and packing items for military personnel.


  • Memorial Ceremony
    12 p.m. in front of Progress Park
    A 30-minute ceremony just before the city’s annual Soap Box Derby.

Jefferson County


  • Memorial Ceremony
    1:30 p.m. at the Arnold Recreation Center
    A steel beam from the World Trade Center will be unveiled.

De Soto

  • Memorial Ceremony
    2 p.m. in Spross Park
    A war memorial will be dedicated


  • Memorial Observance
    Ceremony at 7 p.m. at Herculaneum Fire Department
    Event includes a memorial video produced by the fire department and a display of 9/11 memorabilia.

  • “Honor our Heroes” parade and festivities
    Parade at 4 p.m. at Civic Memorial High School, Band will perform from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
    Parade ends at St. Louis Regional Airport. Scott Air Force Base Starlifter Band will perform followed by a program to recognize first responders and the military. Fireworks at dusk.


  • Honoring Emergency Responders
    12 p.m. at the Collinsville Fire Department
    Honors emergency responders who died on Sept. 11. After the ceremony, there is a four-block celebratory walk.

Granite City

  • Memorial Ceremony
    6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Sykes Field in Wilson Park.


  • Memorial Program and Speech
    11 a.m. at Lewis and Clark Community College
    Oliver North will speak. Admission is $35.


  • Garden dedication and ceremony
    8:30 a.m. at the firehouse in Madison County
    The Holiday Shores Volunteer Fire Department in Madison County will dedicate a memorial garden. They recently obtained a steel beam from theWorldTradeCenter wreckage.
