Debate almost started WITHOUT the Pledge of Allegience

flag c Debate almost started WITHOUT the Pledge of Allegience

It’s no surprise to hear that things are getting a little charged up when it comes to politics…but one thing is for sure: Don’t mess with the Pledge of Allegience!  Click “More” to see a video-(more importantly, hear the audio) of a Cadidate forum/Debate with the League of Women Voters where the moderator (Kathy Tate-Bradish) refused to start the proceedings WITHOUT the Pledge of Allegience…needless to say, the crowd wasn’t interested in that :)

This is a great example of a skewed report on a situation. The Pledge of Allegiance was not ‘omitted’ from the debate, it has never been included in League forums. All candidates, including Joe Walsh, signed off on the agenda ahead of time. And Joe Walsh has already participated in League debates this election cycle, where the Pledge was not recited.

Additionally, notice how the camera is taping him during the ENTIRE exchange, never panning to the moderator or audience. This footage was used in a Walsh campaign advertisement. He clearly knows the Pledge will be recited, pushing his chair back immediately. And had access to the tape. This was a planned event, and the fact that a forced disruption is being framed as patriotism is sad. If the audience interrupted for any other reason it would be unacceptable.

The Pledge of Allegiance doesn’t prove patriotism, participating in a civil debate about policy does. This is distracting from the real issues America faces, and furthers no one except extremist agendas. Forcing the Pledge to be recited, and then using that to define the ‘patriots’ and ‘traitors’, sounds like Third Reich Nationalistic rhetoric. The First Amendment allows everyone to disagree, isn’t designed to force us to participate in lock step with mob forces.

I was in the front row also wondering why the moderator skipped over saying the Pledge (not knowing it was not on her agenda) so I wasn’t at all surprised that someone in the audience asked about it. Bean supporters and the LWV are trying to make it sound like the whole thing was planned ahead of time. Wouldn’t that have been impossible without the moderator, Kathy Tate-Bradish who is a firm Obama supporter, being in on it? How could it possibly be a setup not knowing that she simply might have said “If you would like to recite the Pledge, please stand and join me” But she fumbled the ball and went off in a different direction instead. Now we are all considered to be “phony Patriots”

Just so everyone knows, the comments made by Jessy are from Kathy Tate-Bradish’s 27 year old daughter, Jessy Bradish. She usually posts under the user name of JessyB23. She graduated in 2005 with a major in English and Political Science but since graduation it would appear that she has wasted that expensive education on a lot of unrelated endeavors (see her resume at ). Stand-up comedy seems to be her niche as seen at
